This is an invitation to reflect and read—whether suggestively or straightforwardly—Federico Solmi’s Counterfeit Heroes, on power, legend, and religion, curated by Kelly Gordon.
IN-TRANSIT: Fields in Conversation is an encounter based on the belief that listening is a fundamental element of dialogue: two guests draw different routes that begin in a single vanishing point. On this occasion we will meet with José Vívenes, a visual artist whose pictorial work explores the social, political, and cultural acts of a contemporary subject who does not abandon their animality, and with Jonathan Reverón, a journalist, writer, and radio producer who has developed his practice within the field of cultural journalism.
Counterfeit Heroes, Italian artist Federico Solmi’s solo show, is currently being exhibited at the G17 of Los Galpones art center. It proposes a satirical portrayal of history as propaganda—fabricated, manipulated, and carefully devised to suit particular ideals and interests—, questions our knowledge of the past—sluggish, incomplete and irresolute—, and challenges us to wonder just how much we, too, might be perpetuating the myth. This will be the starting point for the conversation.
The encounter will be held next Thursday, August the 8th, at 5:30 PM in the G17 of the Los Galpones art center.
